Victory Way

Victory Way is an NGO based in Parakou, Benin since October 2003, its official registration date.

It was originally created by three young lawyers, including its current president, as an organization for providing free legal counsel to women.

Since that time, though, the NGO has broadened its activities, increased its staff, and gained recognition both locally and nationally for its efforts. .

Among these expanded activities:

• Conferences, communicatoins, and radio programs against domestic violence
• Information Technology internships for impoverished girls
• Technical training for women's groups.

But First and Foremost:

• Support for an ever-increasing number of orphans and at-risk children (127 in 2005 to more than 500 in 2006).
• Campaign against sexual harassment in the schools in partnership with the Peace Corps.

It should be noted that at the moment, Victory Way is the only NGO working against sexual harassment in the schools - a problem well-known over the entire region. This is an area that desperately needs sufficient financing, but more importantly, national and international attention.

The 2006-2007 year will be devoted to the following areas:

• Improving and extending the care for our orphans.
• Nationalizing the campaign against sexual harassment in the schools.
• Programs against sexual violence, domestic violence, and other forms of violence against women

So we call on those who are able to support us in whatever manner they can, for the improvement of the lives of the orphans we support and of the women we fight for.

The way to victory is strewn with obstacles, but winning without difficulty means triumpth without glory, as the proverb says. The name 'Victory Way' is intended as a message of courage and hope for all the women and all the at-risk children of Benin.
